Chinese Premier Li Keqiang on Monday expressed China's willingness to work with New Zealand's ruling and opposition parties to advance negotiations of upgrading a bilateral Free Trade Agreement (FTA).
Li made the remarks when he met with New Zealand opposition Labor Party leader Andrew Little in Wellington, capital of New Zealand.
Li said China attaches importance to the relations with New Zealand's Labor Party and would like to take the opportunity of the 45th anniversary of the establishment of bilateral diplomatic ties to push forward the talks to upgrade the FTA, which took effect in 2008.
China is willing to expand two-way opening-up in trade and investment, provide more business-friendly environment and explore cooperation potentials in such fields as agriculture, husbandry, infrastructure construction and service industry, said Li.
The Chinese premier added that both countries should strengthen inter-party exchanges in various forms on governing their respective countries and promote bilateral relations to a new level.
Little spoke about China's important role in promoting free trade and enhancing international cooperation, saying that the negotiation of upgrading the FTA will create more opportunities and mutual benefits.
Little said his party is willing to continue to make active efforts to further develop bilateral relations and cooperation at all levels and in all areas.
Li arrived in Wellington on Sunday for a four-day official visit to New Zealand after wrapping up his Australia tour.
