China will work with other six countries to improve its freight train services bound for Europe, according to railway authorities on Saturday.
The move comes after China signed an agreement with the six countries – Belarus, Germany, Kazakhstan, Mongolia, Poland and Russia - on Thursday, with the aim of better serving the "One Belt, One Road" initiative.
China has sent over 3,500 freight trains to Europe since 2011. In the first quarter of this year, 593 trains have pulled out of Chinese cities, a major increase of 175 percent year on year, with 198 trains returning, a 187 percent year on year increase.
At present, the cross-continental service has connected 27 Chinese cities and 28 cities across 11 European countries.
