China's economy in April remained stable with a good momentum for growth, the National Development and Reform Commission (NDRC) said at a press conference on Thursday.
According to the top economic planner, the country's total electricity consumption from January to April was 1.93 trillion kilowatt-hours, up 6.7 percent year on year, and the growth rate rose 3.8 percentage points year on year. The electricity consumption of the secondary industry increased by 6.9 percent year on year, with a growth rate rise of 6.7 percentage points. In April, the total electricity consumption was 484.7 billion kilowatt-hours, up six percent year on year.
In terms of consumption pattern between January and April, the electricity consumption of the secondary industry contributed 72 percent to the whole electricity consumption growth, of which, the electricity consumption of the steel and nonferrous metal sectors rose by 7.5 percent and 15.4 percent respectively. In the tertiary industry, the electricity consumption of the sectors of information transmission, computing service and software business went up by 14.5 percent year on year, with a growth rate up 0.1 percentage points year on year.
The NDRC approved 12 fixed assets investment projects, mainly in the fields including energy, water conservancy and transportation, with a total investment of 141.6 billion yuan in April.
