6. Earth, rocks falling down from mountain
The traffic on a section of National Highway 209, which had been interrupted by a landslide, returned to normal Tuesday afternoon after more than four hours of rush repairs in south China's Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region.
Triggered by heavy rains, the landslide happened at around 11:00 at the highway section in Liuzhou City.
A video footage shows tons of earth and rocks falling from the mountain, blocking the highway section. Fortunately, there were neither vehicles nor people on the road.
The local government sent people immediately to repair the road. They removed about 2,000 cubic meters of rock and earth. By about 16:00 Tuesday, the traffic resumed.
The heavy rain drenched the Sanjiang County under the administration of Liuzhou from the evening on Monday to the noon on Tuesday (May 23), with the town of Danzhou receiving the maximum 225.1mm of rain.
