Chinese President Xi Jinping and Premier Li Keqiang urged all-out efforts to search for and rescue the missing in the wake of a massive landslide in southwest China's Sichuan Province on Saturday morning.
The landslide from a mountain hit Xinmo Village in Maoxian County in the Tibetan and Qiang Autonomous Prefecture of Aba of Sichuan at about 06:00, burying 46 homes, leaving 141 people missing, and blocking a 2-km section of a river.
President Xi Jinping called for the province to organize all-out rescue missions for the missing, to try its best to cut casualties, prevent secondary disasters and properly relocate families of the missing.
Premier Li Keqiang also urged all-out efforts to search for the missing, check hidden hazards in the periphery, evacuate residents to safety as soon as possible, prevent secondary disasters and find out what triggered the landslide.
Meanwhile, State Councilor Wang Yong has led a working group heading for the disaster site on Saturday to guide the rescue and relief work.
More than 300 rescuers with excavators and life-detection instrument have been sent to the site, according to Tang Limin, spokesperson of Sichuan provincial government.
