Twin panda cubs Yubao and Yubei had their first birthday party on Tuesday at Chongqing Zoo, in the municipality in southwest China.
A group of special guests, children born on the same day and same month as the panda twins, were also invited to attend the party and together with the zoo staff members, gave the twins a special birthday cake made out of bamboo, carrots, and apples.
The pair seemed to understand the special significance of the party held for them and behaved quite dynamically, making guests at the party burst into fits of laughter.
The caretakers also set up a pool for the cubs, to prevent them from getting heatstroke.
"The pandas are healthy and enjoy playing very much every day. In the early morning, we let them play in the playground and offer them toys specially designed for them, which they like very much," said Yin Yanqiang, chief technology officer of Panda House at Chongqing Zoo.
