"The seventh meeting of BRICS senior representatives on security issues provides a key platform for the BRICS countries to discuss and carry out cooperation on political security issues. The meeting plays an important role in intensifying strategic communication and deepening political trust among the BRICS countries as well as enhancing their influence in international affairs. Attendees will discuss issues including counter-terrorism, cyber security, energy security, major international and regional hotspots as well as topics of national security and development. At present, geopolitical factors are complex and regional hotspot issues arise one after another. Threats including cyber security and terrorism are serious, with both traditional and non-traditional security challenges. China hopes this BRICS meeting will further safeguard the common interests, push forward the cooperation on political security among the BRICS countries, and continue to improve cohesion and increase the influence of the BRICS countries. We hope this meeting will be a preparation for the upcoming ninth BRICS leaders' meeting to be held in September in the city of Xiamen."
