Storyline

Under the leadership of the Communist Party of China (CPC), China's economy has maintained steady growth, with residents' incomes on continuous rise during the past five years, said Andrei Denisov, Russian Ambassador to China.

"When President Xi Jinping took office as the national leader in March 2013, the first place he visited abroad was Russia. At that time, our country's President Putin introduced me to President Xi as the would-be ambassador to China. In May of that year, I came to Beijing. How time flies, but many changes have taken place during the four years and more," said Denisov.

From the first time when he came to China as an interpretor in 1973 till he became the ambassador to China in 2013, Denisov has witnessed China's development. Denisov said he believed that all-out efforts by the Chinese government to deepen reform in recent years helped substantially improve the lives of the Chinese people, and lifted many out of poverty and enabled them to become better-off.

"There are changes in all aspects. They are changes in domestic policies, and foreign policies as well, and changes in the daily life of ordinary people. Now there are shared bikes, and e-commerce that makes online shopping possible. ALL these provide great convenience," Denisov added.

As an ambassador with a doctorate degree in economics, Denisov has followed with great interest the progress of China's economic reform.

"As for the economic aspect, the speed of economic development of China is the highest in the world. From a political perspective, there are also many changes. In September 2013, President Xi proposed an initiative --- the Silk Road Economic Belt, then it became the Belt and Road Initiative. More than 60 countries have supported this initiate. The problems facing Chinese economic development are not only problems for China, but for the global development, because China's economy has contributed such a great deal to the global economic growth," he said.

As the world's second largest economy, China contributed over 30 percent to the global economic growth. And Denisov attributed this to the strong leadership of the CPC as the ruling party.

"Fish cannot live without water, melons cannot grow up without seedlings, and the revolutionary masses cannot live without the Communist Party. The Communist Party of China is a power of leadership, so the decisions the party makes during its 19th National Congress will also play important roles in the national development. I think that the whole world is expecting that the development of China can be relatively quick, and relatively stable. I hope that our two countries can continuously deepen our comprehensive trade and economic cooperation in various fields," added Denisov.
