Russian President Vladimir Putin hopes the United States can join hands with Russia to normalize the bilateral relations, which is in the interest of the two peoples and contributes to effectively addressing international issues.
He made the remarks at his annual year-end press conference in Moscow on Thursday.
Answering a media question on how to assess the achievements of U.S. President Donald Trump, Putin said some accomplishments made by Trump can be easily seen, especially in the economic sector.
"It is not up to me to give an assessment of how President Trump is doing, it is up to the American citizens, those who elected him. Objectively, we see some serious achievements, accomplished even during the short span that he is president. Look at the markets, how they've grown. This attests to the trust investors show in the American economy, they have trust in what President Trump is doing in this particular field," said Putin.
Putin also said he believes there are changes that Trump would like to initiate, but so far unable to accomplish due to many different factors.
