1. Shi Lei rescuing elderly woman in frozen river with help of another resident
A man braved frozen water to rescue a 70-year-old woman in river in the city of Baoding, north China’s Hebei Province on Tuesday.
The accident happened on the early Tuesday morning. The Samaritan, Shi Lei, found an elder falling into river on his way to work. Without any hesitation, he rushed to the river bank and tried hard to break the ice bare-handed. The woman was frozen stiff and had no strength. Then 54-year-old Shi Lei jumped into the frigid water and carried the woman back to the bank.
The neighbors took out cotton-padded jackets and beddings for the elder. Shi helped send the woman back home and then went to work after taking a shower and drinking a bowl of ginger water.
