President Xi Jinping called on the Chinese people to make persistent efforts and keep striving to achieve the great national rejuvenation at the closing meeting of the annual legislative session Tuesday.
In his speech at the closing of the annual session of the 13th National People's Congress, Xi said he believes the Chinese people are people with great creativity, unity, dream and spirit of struggle and he is confident China is able to achieve the goal of national rejuvenation.
"All state power belongs to the people. We must always uphold the stance of the people, uphold the dominant position of the people, learn modestly from the people, listen to the people and draw on the wisdom from the people, take whether people support, agree, like or accept as the fundamental standard to evaluate the performance of all our work, and focus on solving the most pressing, most immediate issues that concern the people the most so as to let all the Chinese people share happiness and glory in the historic process of achieving the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation," Xi said.

Xi said China has a favorable development environment that was unimaginable before, but still faces unprecedented difficulties and challenges.
At its 19th National Congress, the Communist Party of China (CPC) drew up a blueprint for securing a decisive victory in building a moderately prosperous society in all respects, embarking on a new journey to fully build a modern socialist country and realizing the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation, he said.
Comparing the process to materialize the blueprint to "another Long March," Xi warned the whole nation against being satisfied with the status quo, indulging oneself in ease and comfort, or letting delight dispel worries, urging everyone to stay true to the original aspiration, hold on to the mission, and strive to accomplish it.
As socialism with Chinese characteristics has entered a new era, the principal contradiction facing Chinese society has evolved. What China now faces is the contradiction between unbalanced and inadequate development and the people's ever-growing needs for a better life.
Adapting to the new historic juncture for the development of China, acting in response to the evolution of the principal contradiction in Chinese society, Xi said the country will uphold the great banner of socialism with Chinese characteristics and fully implement the spirit of the 19th Party congress and the second and third plenary sessions of the 19th CPC Central Committee.
He pledged to follow the guide of Marxism-Leninism, Mao Zedong Thought, Deng Xiaoping Theory, the Theory of Three Represents, the Scientific Outlook on Development, and the Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era.
He stressed the underlying principle of pursuing progress while ensuring stability, the people-centered development vision, the notion of "great struggle, great project, great cause, and great dream," and coordinated implementation of the "five-sphere integrated plan" and the "four-pronged comprehensive strategy".
The "five-sphere integrated plan" is to promote coordinated economic, political, cultural, social, and ecological advancement. The "four-pronged comprehensive strategy" refers to: make comprehensive moves to finish building a moderately prosperous society in all respects, deepen reform, advance the law-based governance of China, and strengthen Party self-conduct.
