Storyline

Tens of thousands of migratory birds have been seen flying over the wetlands of the Yalu River in Dandong City of northeast China's Liaoning Province recently.

As one of the three most ideal bird-watching sites in the world, the wetlands in the Yalu River Estuary Nature Reserve attracts hundreds of thousands of migratory birds in March and April every year. Therefore, many photographers are drawn to the nature reserve.

Jiang Qi, who comes from Shenyang City, has been to the nature reserve to take photos of the birds for three consecutive years.

"The birds have flown in from abroad. They come here at this time of year, every year. Shenyang has neither the types of the birds here nor the large amount. In addition, the ecological environment here is also good, and more and more migratory birds will come here year after year," Jiang said.

About 250 types of birds will visit the nature reserve annually. Around 500,000 shore birds of 49 types will make stopovers in it, which makes it the world's largest stopover site for shore birds.
