Storyline


The first Digital China Summit wrapped up on Tuesday in Fuzhou, east China's Fujian Province.

At the closing ceremony, some government departments, including the Supreme People's Procuratorate (SPP), the Ministry of Education, the State Administration of Cultural Heritage, the State Administration of Science, Technology and Industry for National Defense, and the National Health Commission issued their respective policies for boosting digital development.

The Ministry of Education said that it will dedicate itself to arousing the innovative zeals of university students by taking advantage of Internet plus and innovation and entrepreneurship competition and other platforms.

The "Internet Plus" strategy initiated in 2015 aims to integrate mobile internet, cloud computing, big data and the internet of things with modern manufacturing to encourage the healthy development of e-commerce, industrial networks, and internet banking.

"We will continue to push forward the reform of innovation and entrepreneurship in education, which has already shown a strong momentum. About 3 percent of university graduates have started up their own businesses, nearly doubling the 1.6 percent in developed countries," said Lin Dongwei, deputy director of the higher education department of the Ministry of Education.

The State Administration of Cultural Heritage pledged to promote digital development in cultural relics management.

According to the administration, it has set up a national immovable relics information management platform and a database of cultural relics resources preserved by the state.

Incorporated into digital management are also more than 760,000 immovable cultural relics, more than 26 million movable cultural relics, as well as the paper archives of over 80 million cultural relics.

"We will support the state-managed cultural relics units in collecting high-quality information of cultural relics so as to create favorable conditions for revitalizing the cultural relics in the cyberspace and to speed up the development of smart museums and the network matrix of museums," said Guan Qiang, vice head of the administration.

At the closing ceremony, a research institute of digital China was set up for supporting the development of digital industry in different areas. This also gives experts the confidence in the promising future of digital China.

"We believe that digital China and smart society are sure to have a booming period by relying on the guidance by the national strategy, the support of government policy, the participation of enterprises and the efforts of scientific and technical workers. There will be more products that will facilitate people's life, make the government's decisions wiser and the city management more scientific and cities smarter," said Zhang Liang, chairman with the SYSW1N, a service provider for building smart cities.

The summit opened in Fuzhou on Sunday, with about 800 people, including officials, representatives of industrial organizations and experts attending.
