Storyline


China's food and steel prices dropped in April, while refined oil wholesale price index and nonferrous metal prices rose, the National Development and Reform Commission (NDRC) said Wednesday.

A survey by NDRC in 36 large and medium-sized cities shows weighted average prices of 61 key foods fell 1.9 percent in April, compared with March. Decrease of pork prices narrowed down and fodder prices remained stable.

China's steel prices kept going down in April, with the national steel price index at 97.57, 1.89 percent lower than March.

Nonferrous metal prices slightly rose in April and China's refined oil wholesale price index climbed by 10.53 percent year on year to 94.72.
