1. Footage showing hook of crane on loader truck hitting biker, cabin of concrete mixer truck

A crane's lifting hook carried by a truck broke loose, severely injuring a biker and fatally wounding a truck driver passing by in Shenzhen on Saturday.

Surveillance footage recorded on May 19 shows the crane’s lifting hook suddenly breaking loose when the truck was making a right turn along Xiufeng Road in the city’s Longgang District.

The swinging metal hook first hit a passing biker, then smashed into the cabin of a concrete mixer truck.

The concrete truck then ran over the injured biker and ended up overturned on the side of the road.

The driver of the concrete truck was instantly killed, while the biker was severely injured in the accident, said Shenzhen police.

The crane truck driver, whose surname was identified as Zhang, has been held fully responsible for the accident due to him failing to follow the necessary steps to properly fasten the crane’s lifting hook, said police.
