Spain is able to receive a certain number of migrants at present but things are uncertain in the future, said a political analyst.
The analyst called for joint efforts of all European countries to tackle the migrant crisis.
Juan Anton, professor of politics at University of Barcelona, made the remarks on Monday after more than 600 migrants were arriving at the Spanish port of Valencia on Sunday.
Spain's Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez said the country may take more migrants in the future.
"The number of migrants determines how many refugees could be received. It depends on how many resources the government could commit. It also depends on whether a country is willing to share the obligations," said Juan Anton.
The drastic rise in the refugee tide has apparently gone beyond the receiving capacities of European countries. As the starting points for refugees to land, Greece and Italy have already burdened down. The illegal migration issue has already become such a challenge for all the European countries that cannot be resolved by any one country.
"The public policy of the European Union should play its role in making the members deal with the problem wisely," said Juan Anton.
