As it was raining outside, I didn't dare to stop the bus instantly because it may have caused a rear-end collision. Therefore, no matter how much pain I was in, I had to drive to a safe area to park the bus."

A bus driver continued to drive until finding a safe area to stop after being hit by a falling rock in Zhaotong City of southwest China's Yunnan Province last Thursday.
Zhao Shuang, the driver, was driving a bus on a mountain expressway on a rainy day. The surveillance camera on the bus recorded the scary moment when a fallen rock suddenly broke through the bus windshield and hit Zhao.
Zhao endured excruciating pain and continued to drive nine minutes to park the bus at a service zone.
"I often drive on the mountain road and know that mountain rocks may drop down at any time. As it was raining outside, I didn't dare to stop the bus instantly because it may have caused a rear-end collision. Therefore, no matter how much pain I was in, I had to drive to a safe area to park the bus," said Zhao.
Zhao was sent to hospital for treatment, and diagnosed as having excess fluid in his lungs and multiple rib fractures. He is now recovering.
