Chinese leader's presence at the Eastern Economic Forum (EEF) will raise the influence of the forum and promote the all-round cooperation between China and Russia, said Russian experts.

Chinese President Xi Jinping went to Vladivostok, Russia, for the fourth Eastern Economic Forum and met with Russian President Vladimir Putin on Tuesday.

Timofei Bordachev is a program director of the Valdai Discussion Club, a Moscow-based think tank. He said the development of Far East region of Russia cannot happen without Asian countries, especially China. President Xi's presence at the forum is significant in terms of both China-Russia bilateral relations and regional multilateral cooperation.

"Every time after the meeting between the leaders of China and Russia, the bilateral relations of the two countries get promoted. Generally speaking, our bilateral relations will continuously improve. I think the Chinese President's presence at the Eastern Economic Forum indicates that the influence of this forum is increasing in Asia," said Bordachev.

Andrey Bystritskiy, the chairman of the board of the Foundation for Development and Support of the Valdai Discussion Club, emphasized that the mutual trust, close cooperation and deep connection in economic development between China and Russia are important for the reform of global governance.
