Storyline


A Six-year-old Chinese athlete captured two bronzes respectively in the first Asiania Indoor Skydiving Championship and the China Open 2018 ended on Saturday in Chongqing Municipality, southwest China.

Xiao Yiming, the youngest athlete in this four-day competition, had only eight months' experience in indoor skydiving.

During the competition, he kept spinning, tumbling and hovering in the wind tunnel, which was like a performance of ballet.

Xiao won the third place in the youth freestyle of the Championships, and the third place in the youth freestyle and the youth doubles of the China Open 2018.

"I did a good job, although there was a little mistake. It's very interesting, I was like a superman, it's very cool," said Xiao.

"He can devote himself to a sport and work hard at such a young age. I think this process is very important and worth cherishing," said Zhang Mohan, Xiao's mother.

Indoor skydiving is a new type of sport that uses the wind tunnel to simulate real skydiving, which has just started in China. People can experience the fun of skydiving and the pleasure of flying.

"This is a very new project. It is an indoor skydiving derived from skydiving. We hope to let more people get to know it through this competition and experience the feeling of flying in the wind tunnel," said Wang Yongli, skydiving department director of Aviation Radio Model Motion Management Center, General Administration of Sport of China.

In the first Asiania Indoor Skydiving Championships, athletes from 11 countries competed. Free-style groups were set up for the first time and players can choose their own actions and music.
