China, Japan ready to tap into third-party markets for win-win results

China and Japan stand ready to pursue more common interests and cooperation. At the first-ever session of the China-Japan Third-Party Market Cooperation Working Mechanism, both sides say they will tap more into third-party markets.

China's Vice Minister of Commerce Qian Keming, Deputy Secretary-General of the National Development and Reform Commission Su Wei, Japanese Special Advisor to the Prime Minister Izumi Hiroto, and representatives from relevant government departments, financial institutions and economic groups attended the session to discuss political and financial support in this new area.

The Chinese vice minister of commerce says the two economies are highly complementary and he believes third-party market cooperation will help the two sides achieve more win-win results.

"Third-party market cooperation will provide a new growth point for China and Japan in the new situation. It will open a new field for pragmatic cooperation. It will also help the economic development of the two countries, while deepening regional cooperation, strengthening economic ties, opposing trade protectionism and promoting economic stability and growth in the region and the world at large. We would like to work closely with Japan to take this session as an opportunity to enhance communication and coordination, and encourage enterprises of both sides to draw on each other's strength for more projects to take root. The vice minister added that the mechanism will serve as an opportunity to further push Sino-Japanese cooperation to a new level.

The world's second and third-largest economies also initiated collaboration through non-governmental channels at the meeting.
