Storyline

The fifth World Internet Conference closed Friday in Wuzhen in east China's Zhejiang Province.

A total of 15 emerging technologies ranging from mini programs, AI platforms, smart services to dynamic check and control technology for CPU hardware security were unveiled at the conference, which was themed "creating a digital world for mutual trust and collective governance -- towards a community with a shared future in cyberspace."

About 1,500 guests including government officials, International organization leaders and business tycoons from more than 70 countries and regions attended the conference.

Francis Gurry, Director General of World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO), praised China's significant contributions to the internet growth in the world.

"China’s contribution to the world internet development like China's contribution to everything is massive. The impact is extraordinary. The scale of the impact, the number of users online, 800 million users or more, the scale is such that it is a very determining influence on the future shape and development of the internet," he said.

Wang Xing, a participant, said it's necessary and urgent for suppliers to use the internet to market their goods and services.

"The supply side also needs to go online. Only by doing so can we use science and technology to promote the supply-side reform. The whole industrial chain must go digital, informationized, internet-oriented, and even intelligent, so as to further improve efficiency," he said.

Shen Xiangyang, another participant, expected the future technologies to transform customer experience.

"I believe technologies will develop more rapidly in the next five years, which will offer us incredible user experience that could be hardly imagined before. Some new experiences like virtual reality (VR) and augmented reality (AR) will become even more realistic," he said.
