Storyline

A grand exhibition being held in Beijing has offered visitors a great opportunity to review China's scientific and technological achievements in the 40 years of reform and opening-up.

Sixty-three innovative achievements are showcased at the exhibition at the National Museum of China which opened on Tuesday morning, demonstrating the country's scientific and technological development over the past four decades.

Historical materials including photos, texts, videos, miniature models and interactive activities epitomize the changes.

Models of the Dark Matter Particle Explorer (DAMPE) Satellite "Wukong", manned submersible Shenhai Yongshi, and Five-hundred-meter Aperture Spherical Radio Telescope (FAST) are among the exhibits displayed at the exhibition.

Visitors were seen taking selfies in front of the models.

The achievements were not only made to meet the country's major demands, but also to promote industrial development.

"We have yielded pleasing results in creating new medicines in recent years. For example, we have just passed the third phase of clinical test of medicine for Alzheimer's Disease. It will be world leading after receiving investment and being put into application," said Pan Jiaofeng, director of the Institute of Science and Development under the Chinese Academy of Sciences.

The grand exhibition titled "The Great Revolution" is held to celebrate the 40th anniversary of reform and opening-up.

It has six sections, showcasing the history, accomplishments, and experience of reform and opening-up, as well as the strategic decisions and plans made by the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee with Comrade Xi Jinping at the core since the 18th CPC National Congress.

The exhibition will run through late December.
