The seven crew members aboard a fishing boat were rescued after the boat got stranded on rocks amid gales and high waves in east China's Shandong Province.

The fishing boat from northeast China's Liaoning Province with a crew of seven on board was swept away by strong gales and high waves to waters off the coast of Changdao County following a machinery failure just before midnight Wednesday.

The boat was stranded on rocks about 100 meters offshore, with forceful waves keeping whipping it.

The rescuers from Shandong Province firstly fixed the boat's mooring rope on the shore. Then, they reached the stranded crew members by walking along the rope. All the seven crew members were rescued safe and sound in the early hours of Thursday, before the boat was completely destroyed by the big waves shortly afterwards.
