At least 10 people were killed and over 20 injured in a school shooting in Sao Paulo, Brazil on Wednesday.
Among the deceased are five students, two school staff, a woman and two gunmen .The two gunmen killed themselves at the scene, authorities said.
The attack took place at 09:30 local time at the Raul Brasil Public School in the Jardim Emperador neighborhood of Suzano, a community located within the greater metropolitan area of Sao Paulo.
Initial reports said eight people were killed, but the death toll rose as several succumbed to their injuries with over 20 wounded people taken to hospital.
The attackers used firearms and knives, causing a stampede as panicked students ran for cover.
"It was at recess time. A few minutes later we heard loud explosions. At first we thought they were firecrackers and we didn't really care. But then people started to run out from the building shouting that someone was killing people inside," said a student.

A bomb squad was dispatched to the school, as witnesses reported seeing the two attackers enter the premises carrying a large bundle of cables and feared it could contain explosives.
Parents and neighbors gathered at the school awaiting news.
"Today is the saddest day in my life," Sao Paulo state public secretary Joao Camilo told reporters at the scene, adding the priority was to attend to the victims and their families.
"Criminal investigators and police have already entered the school. They checked out the scene and gathered evidence. And of course, we will come up with a more detailed conclusion after the investigation," he said.
