A projectile struck a residential building in central Israel early Monday morning, injuring seven including one infant.
The attack happened at 05:00 in Mishmeret, a tranquil community with about 1,000 people located in northeastern Tel Aviv.
Noy, a local resident, and her family were awakened by the air raid alarm, which was later followed by a thunderous explosion.
"I told him (husband) no, it cannot be an alarm. This is a place where there is never an alarm and we were discussing it and suddenly we heard this great boom," Noy said.
Monday's attack follows another rocket attack by Hamas in less than two weeks, marking the first sustained attacks on Tel Aviv since 2014.
Eyal Zisser, Israeli expert on the Middle East, said the rocket attack was related to the upcoming Israel election on April 9.
"You know they want to use the opportunity in Israel election very soon and no government will go to war before election. So they think they have a window of opportunity till the election, to on the one hand, escalate it a little bit and to gain something in return," he said.
According to expert, the so-called "return" is forcing Israel to unblock the Gaza area and accept Palestinian refugees who fled their homes since 1948.
While in some experts' perspectives, the escalation between Gaza and Israel could help, or harm Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu in the election.
"Is he not going to be undermined by these rockets, or shored up by these rockets. And nobody knows yet how these rockets are going to play out. And also [it] could also spill into a war. And there again, people may rally around him or blame him for it," said Bradley Burston, a political columnist with the Tel Aviv-based Haaretz Newspaper.
Since last March, the campaign for Palestinians to return to Israel has been contentious in the Gaza area, with tensions escalating.
