Chinese President Xi Jinping Wednesday called for concerted efforts to build a more glorious future for Asia and the world.
He made the call at the Asian Culture Carnival that opened Wednesday night, which is an important part of the Conference on Dialogue of Asian Civilizations (CDAC).
"The Chinese people sincerely hope Asian countries can help each other, brace difficulties together and forge ahead together as we advance in the trend of global development to build a better future for Asia and the world," Xi said.
The Chinese president said in his opening speech at the carnival that the colorful flowers of Asian culture are bursting into bloom with a great variety of artistic performances to display a glorious, energetic, peaceful and progressive Asia to the world.
The CDAC, scheduled for May 15-22 in Beijing, seeks to foster exchanges and mutual learning among Asian civilizations and to build a community with a shared future.
More than 2,000 government officials and representatives of various circles from 47 Asian countries and other countries outside the region were present at the opening ceremony of the CDAC and will attend the forums and events of the CDAC.
