"Most certainly President Xi Jinping's example in organizing this conference is a very good example of how we can conduct dialogue, both within the Asian civilizations as well as a dialogue that reaches out to other civilizations in the world, and I do agree with both of the points that have been stated by previous speakers. This is what we need to do, understand better our own civilizations, create harmony, create respect, create tolerance, create understanding, but that does not mean that our civilization should be exclusive. It should be a civilization that can work with other civilizations because that's a diversity that will enrich and enhance the world."

Engagement in different intersecting cooperation frameworks has become one of the compatible advantages of Armenia."

"The education that we are dedicated to develop should be the education that will facilitate human dignity and dialogue, oppose extremism and be inclusive, education that provide equal opportunities to women and girls. In this connection, I want to pay tribute to Professor Peng Liyuan for her support in this area of fundamental importance. Without knowledge of history, or without the recognition of history, there will be no real dialogue, either. This is why UNESCO has been committed to promoting cultural and scientific exchanges and research and the application of such research. Along the silk road, for the past 30 years, 25 countries have already taken part and the findings are also released on the website."

Storyline

Several heads of state and government and UNESCO Director-General on Wednesday praised China for injecting positive energy into promoting civilization exchanges and mutual learning and building a community with a shared future for mankind.

Cambodian King Norodom Sihamoni, Greek President Prokopis Pavlopoulos, Singaporean President Halimah Yacob, Sri Lankan President Maithripala Sirisena, Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, and Director-General of United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) Audrey Azoulay made the remarks when they spoke at the opening ceremony of the Conference on Dialogue of Asian Civilizations (CDAC) respectively.

Cambodian King Norodom Sihamoni said he highly appreciate Chinese President Xi Jinping's great vision of building a community with a shared future for mankind, which enables all countries in the world to value harmony and share a common destiny.

Greek President Prokopis Pavlopoulos said dialogue among civilizations, as well as the conference advocated by Xi, is important to people in Greece, the Europe and the West. Through his participation and the participation of UNESCO Director-General Audrey Azoulay, the conference is not limited to a dialogue among Asian civilizations, but is also open to Western countries, he said, adding that the westerners also look east.

Singapore President Halimah Yacob, said the CDAC advocated by Xi has set a good example for other countries on promoting dialogue among civilizations.

It should be a civilization that can work with other civilizations because that's a diversity that will enrich and enhance the world," she said.

President of Sri Lanka Maithripala Sirisena said that a civilization should not replace another. The civilization and culture of any country should not be bound by any international organization or other forces and they should be equal and independent, he said.

Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan said close exchange with regional and global partners is the only way for the country to achieve development.

"Today, as in the past, we see the path of our progress in close interaction with all the regional and global players. Armenia is engaged in bilateral and multilateral cooperation processes encompassing much of the wider region, be it the economic integration with the countries of the Eurasian Economic Union where Armenia is one of the founding members, cooperation in the framework of the EU Eastern Partnership or the participation in the Silk Road Economic Belt Initiative that Armenia joined in 2015. Engagement in different intersecting cooperation frameworks has become one of the compatible advantages of Armenia," he said.

UNESCO Director-General Audrey Azoulay said the conference is a dialogue between individuals and the world and a tribute to the deep ties of peoples from different countries for thousands of years.
She said that the UNESCO is dedicated to develop the education that will “facilitate human dignity and dialogue, oppose extremism and be inclusive” and “provide equal opportunities to women and girls”. She also paid tribute to Professor Peng Liyuan for her support in this area.

"Without knowledge of history, or without the recognition of history, there will be no real dialogue, either. This is why UNESCO has been committed to promoting cultural and scientific exchanges and research and the application of such research. Along the silk road, for the past 30 years, 25 countries have already taken part and the findings are also released on the website," she said.

Representatives from 47 Asian countries and other countries outside the region participated in the event.

Under the theme of "exchanges and mutual learning among Asian civilizations and a community with a shared future", The week-long event includes an opening ceremony, panel discussions, an Asian culture carnival and Asian Civilization Week involving more than 110 activities to showcase the diversity and charm of Asian civilizations.
