The 2019 Consumer Electronics Show (CES) Asia kicked off on Tuesday in Shanghai, featuring several cutting-edge gadgets and enhanced technologies.
One of the devices that is especially dazzling attendees at the show is a steering console that can operate vehicles at a distance of more than 50 kilometers with the help of 5G.
"Although it is dozens of kilometers away, it seems quite normal under my steering," said a visitor who tried the gadget at the show.
A Chinese company showcases their unmanned driving technology on heavy-duty trucks and its CEO said the technology will save operating and logistics costs for companies.
"The annual total operating cost of a heavy-duty truck is about one million yuan (about 140,000 U.S. dollars) of which 25 percent is the cost of its driver. According to our initial estimation, the technology will cut the annual operating cost of a heavy-duty truck by more than 10 percent if the technology is put into large-scale operation," said Ma Zheren, CEO of Inceptio Technology.
A kind of smart door lock that uses fingerprint identification technology also draws visitors at the show.
The three-day exhibition is showcasing the latest achievements in 5G technology, artificial intelligence, augmented and virtual reality and vehicle technology from more than 550 enterprises from around the world.
