China urges related parties to exercise restraint and jointly maintain peace and stability in the Gulf region, Chinese Foreign Ministry Spokesman Geng Shuang said on Thursday.
Geng made the statement at a press conference in Beijing in response to reports that the naval forces of Iran's Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) intended to stop a British oil tanker in the Strait of Hormuz area on Wednesday. However, the IRGC denied the reports.
"The Gulf region has a significant impact on international energy supply, as well as global security and stability.
