Storyline

Many residents in Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (SAR) expressed their support to local police on Friday and said that they reject any external interference with Hong Kong affairs.

External interference is a major cause of the recent chaos in Hong Kong, they said when they visited police stations in Mong Kok and Yuen Long to show their support.

"I believe it should become a joke at this time today if someone still insists in denying the involvement of external forces," said Lee Ka-ka, secretary-general of the Caring Hong Kong Power.

"Hong Kong affairs are China's internal affairs, and we in Hong Kong are capable to handle them, so we do not need foreign governments to instruct us on Hong Kong affairs under any circumstance," said Calvin Sze To, a community officer.

"Hong Kong has returned to China and Hong Kong has always been a Chinese territory. Hong Kong affairs are China's internal affairs. The United States has no right, nor does Britain, to interfere with Hong Kong's internal affairs," said a resident surnamed Lee.

Residents also expressed their confidence in the regional and central government, believing that social order will soon be restored in Hong Kong.

"Here is China, so we must uphold our confidence and believe the Hong Kong government and the central government will certainly bring us a stable and prosperous society," said Sun, another resident.

"China's soft power and economic strength are growing all the way. We are confident in our country and in the SAR government," said Lee.
"I hope Hong Kong could sustain its peace and stability, and continue to be prosperous. I'm very confident in the country. Hong Kong has been implementing the 'one country, two systems' principle, and we are all confident in this principle," said Chou, also a Hong Kong resident.
