Storyline


Chinese President Xi Jinping accepted the credentials presented by new ambassadors to China from 10 countries at the Great Hall of the People in Beijing on Wednesday.

The ambassadors were Didier Dacko from Mali, Lechoo Daniel Setenane from Lesotho, Naghmana A. Hashimi from Pakistan, Mohamed A. Al-Dehaimi from Qatar, Graham Hugh Fletcher from Australia, Martin Chedondo from Zimbabwe, Andre Unga from Estonia, Raja Nushirwan from Malaysia, Aishath Azeema from the Maldives, and Saramady Toure from Guinea.

Xi welcomed the ambassadors to China, saying that China attaches great importance to developing friendly relations with other countries and is ready to deepen political mutual trust, expand pragmatic cooperation, and jointly promote the Belt and Road Initiative for greater benefits to the people of all countries.

The Chinese government will facilitate and support the new ambassadors in their work and hopes that they will play an active role in deepening friendship with China and promoting bilateral relations, Xi said.

The ambassadors conveyed cordial regards from their state leaders to Xi, and congratulated on the 70th founding anniversary of the People's Republic of China. They spoke highly of the brilliant achievements and great contributions to world peace and development the PRC has made since it was founded 70 years ago.

They said their countries are looking forward to strengthening exchanges and cooperation with China and will actively participate in the joint cooperation under the Belt and Road Initiative. They feel honored to be ambassadors to China and pledged active efforts to promote bilateral relations during their tenure in China.

Xi also received a letter of appointment presented by UN Resident Coordinator in China Nicholas Rosellini, and stressed China's support for multilateralism and for the United Nations to play a bigger role.
