Storyline


Pyongyang's chief negotiator for working-level talks with Washington Kim Myong Gil on Friday said he is optimistic about the upcoming talks with the United States.

He also praised U.S. President Donald Trump's latest positive statement on the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK).

Trump on Wednesday indicated that Washington may be pursuing a "new method" in negotiations with Pyongyang.

Meanwhile, South Korean President Moon Jae-in is scheduled to speak with Trump on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly next week, with officials saying their top priority will be lasting peace on the Korean Peninsula.
