As celebrations for the 70th anniversary of the People's Republic of China edge closer, a series of news conferences by officials from more than 30 provinces, districts and municipalities over the past three months have outlined some of the country's finest development achievements.

The series of presentations at the news conference hall of State Council Information Office in Beijing have served as a window for international society to learn more about China's major achievements in economic and social development over the past seven decades.

The changes over the past 70 years manifested the miracle of China's development from an all-round revitalization of the northeast old industrial base, the rise of the central region, poverty alleviation in the western region as well as reform and innovation in the east.

China has entered a new era of innovative development showcased by a number of standout projects such as the Wuhan Yangtze River Bridge, the Five-hundred-meter Aperture Spherical Telescope (FAST), the operation of maglev trains running at 160 kilometers per hour, the development of the C919 jumbo jet, 3D printing, and the continued advancement artificial intelligence.

The country is moving towards a whole new stage of opening-up after obtaining its first individual business license, the nation's first pilot free trade zone in Shanghai, as well as the growing Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area.

China has put into practice the concept of "green development" and has been exploring a path of high-quality development through constructing the global desert ecological economy pilot zone Kubuqi, building the country's first ecological civilization demonstration area Fujian and the ongoing project of building the national park province Qinghai.

From being closed off in the past to now being open up and globally-focussed, from not having enough food and clothing to becoming a moderately prosperous society in all respects, and from carrying forward traditions into a new age of modernity, China has demonstrated a miraculous pace of reform and change, whilst painted a magnificent picture of staggering development over the past 70 years.
