Storyline


Featuring seven short stories directed by seven elite Chinese directors, the film "Me and My Motherland," is set to hit theaters on Sept. 30 to celebrate China's progress and historic moments in the past seven decades.

Drawing on historical, classic moments since the founding of the People's Republic of China in October 1949, the seven directors focus on the seemingly distant yet close ties between the common people and the country, aiming to awaken the shared memories of the Chinese people around the world.

Starring a number of renowned actors and actresses, "Me and My Motherland" is a gift for the motherland which is celebrating the 70th anniversary of its founding.

Chen Kaige, who became the first Chinese director to win a Palme d'Or at the Cannes Film Festival in 1993 with his "Farewell My Concubine", is the general director guiding the whole project.

"The Chinese people are actually a driver of development and progress made by the People's Republic of China over the past 70 years, so we hope to see the changes over the past 70 years from the view of point of the common people," said Chen.

The star-studded cast includes elite and award-winning actors and actresses Ge You, Huang Bo, Simon Yam, Wang Tianchen, Tong Liya, Zhang Jiayi, Zhang Yi, Wang Qianyuan, Oho Ou, Liu Tao, Liu Haoran, Chen Feiyu, Kara Wai, Du Jiang, Song Jia.

"No matter in which year you were born in, you are a witness more or less and will be touched by the deep love for the motherland in the seven stories," said actor Du Jiang who starred in the "Return", a story focused on the historical return of Hong Kong to the motherland in 1997.
