China's Mars exploration flight control team has made public appearance.
The team is responsible for controlling the flight of the probe, ordering it to make detour, land and patrol.
Chief Engineer Cui Xiaofeng said, "To put it simply, our mission is to control the flying postures of the flight vehicle and after the exploration rover lands, control its operations, including processing and analyzing the data it collects according to the strategy pre-worked out so as to enable them to complete the tasks of scouting, probing, and flying."
The team has an average age of 30. Young as they are, they are very skillful in their control operation. They have been busying working on how to direct the probe to the Mars precisely since 2017 when the team was officially formed.
Cui said,"We shall do the orbit control a number of times during the process, controlling the direction so that it will stay on track to reach the gravitation field of Mars and captured by it, thus becoming a flight vehicle operating around the Mars, and then control it to land on the designated area of the Mars at an appropriate time."
China plans to start its first Mars exploration mission at a proper time next year to carry out global and comprehensive exploration of the Mars and carry out refined roving and probing in key areas of the Mars.
