China's employment market remained stable with the registered urban unemployment rate standing at 3.62 percent at the end of 2019, well below the government's annual target of 4.5 percent, China's Ministry of Human Resources and Social Security said Tuesday.
A total of 13.52 million new urban jobs were created in 2019, much higher than the 11 million target.
About 5.46 million registered unemployed people in cities and towns were re-employed and 1.79 million urban residents experiencing difficulty in finding employment have found jobs. Policies and measures to stabilize employment continued to be implemented. Unemployment insurance were set to support labor-intensive enterprises and enterprises in difficulty to stabilize their jobs, returning 55.17 billion yuan (about 8 billion U.S. dollars) to 1.148 million enterprises throughout the year, benefiting 72.895 million employees. The promotion of vocational skills was carried out solidly, exceeding the training target of 15 million person-times.
