The World Economic Forum (WEF) Annual Meeting 2020, under the theme "Stakeholders for a Cohesive and Sustainable World", is scheduled to take place on Jan. 21-24 in Davos Klosters in Switzerland, the WEF announced at the press conference on Tuesday.
According to Klaus Schwab, founder and executive chairman of the WEF, this year's program will focus on achieving maximum impact on the Forum's platform for public-private cooperation across six core areas of activity: ecology, economy, society, industry, technology and geopolitics.
"The best way to foster more cohesive and inclusive society is to provide everybody with a decent job and income. As far as more sustainable world is concerned, the meeting will serve to make clean investment mainstream, it will encourage engagement of partners and members to become carbon neutral. So restoration of our eco-systems is the priority for this coming decade," said Schwab.
Nearly 3,000 leaders from all over the world, including 53 heads of state or government, will attend the meeting, according to the WEF.
"We just have to secure that the synchronized slowdown in the global economy that we are facing is not continuing. We need also to make sure that we can continue growth, but the growth has to be more inclusive, has to create more jobs and has to be sustainable, and here we also mobilize the private sector in doing so," said Borge Brende, president of WEF.
