More batches of medical teams across China rushed to Wuhan City in central China's Hubei Province, the epicenter of the novel coronavirus (2019-nCoV) outbreak, to aid the fight against the epidemic on Thursday and Friday.

Among the teams is the fifth medical team of northeast China's Jilin Province, which has 390 medical workers from three hospitals, all experienced in treating critical patients. Among the medical team members, 130 are from over 20 departments of Jilin University’s First Hospital.

"As a surgeon, I’m also experienced in intensive care. When it comes to work at frontline, I am mainly responsible for ensuring logistics supplies, solving problems that pop up on the spot, and more importantly, ensuring the safety of our medical staff during treatment of patients," said Lyu Guoyue, vice president of the First Hospital of Jilin University.

The third medical team of 131 members dispatched by the West China Hospital of Sichuan University in southwest China's Sichuan Province also headed to Wuhan on Friday morning. The team is also the fifth medical team sent by Sichuan Province to help Hubei combat the epidemic.

The team consists of 30 doctors, 100 nurses and one professional logistics engineer who is mainly responsible for oxygen supply. They are from respiratory and critical care critical care departments, infectious disease center, and emergency department of the West China Hospital.

"A continuous and sufficient oxygen supply plays a very positive role in treating patients infected with 2019-nCoV and during their rehabilitation. My major work this time to Wuhan is trying to ensure the normal and quality supply of oxygen at the front line," said Zhang Hongwei, a logistics engineer of the hospital.

The third medical team with a total of 142 medical workers from northwest China's Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region also flew to Wuhan on Thursday. There are 75 nurses and 60 doctors specializing in 15 areas such as respiratory, intensive medicine, infectious disease, nosocomial infection and anesthesia, in addition to the personnel providing logistical support.

The Guangzhou-based Sun Yat-sen Memorial Hospital of Zhongshan University in south China's Guangdong Province dispatched its second medical team of 131 members to Wuhan on Friday morning.

Moreover, China has established a one-to-one support relationship between 16 provinces and cities in Hubei Province except Wuhan to help fight the epidemic, an official of the Medical Administration Bureau of the National Health Commission told the press on Friday afternoon.
