A special freight train, loaded with 72 negative-pressure ambulances, headed to Wuhan of Hubei Province from the Xiangtang railway logistics base in Nanchang City, east China's Jiangxi Province, on Wednesday, to help fight the novel coronavirus outbreak.
The local ambulance manufacturer has been working at full capacity after the start of the novel coronavirus outbreak to ensure the sufficient supply of ambulances.
With a negative-pressure system, the exhaust fan installed on the ambulance can draw in fresh air into the ambulance and suck the air treated with filter equipment out of the ambulance to reduce cross infection.
"Using the special train to transport the ambulances can help avoid the risk of cross-infection of road transport personnel running back and forth," said Wu Feng, deputy general manager of the Branch of China Railway Special Cargo Services Co. Ltd.
To make sure that the ambulances can be delivered to Wuhan as quickly as possible, China Railway Nanchang Bureau Group Co., Ltd and China Railway Special Cargo Services Co. Ltd designated a special train to transport the ambulances.
"We have achieved ‘four rapids’: quick handling, quick loading, quick transportation, and quick train organization. Lacking manpower, we ask members of the Communist Party of China (CPC) and the Communist Youth League to handle the emergency loading of these materials," said Shang Dengwei, deputy head of the Xiangtang Railway Station under the China Railway Nanchang Bureau Group Co., Ltd.
