An additional medical team from the Chinese People's Liberation Army (PLA) began its work Friday in Wuhan city of central China's Hubei Province, the epicenter of the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) pneumonia outbreak since mid-December 2019.
So far, the Chinese military has deployed more than 4,000 medics to Hubei in the ongoing fight against the epidemic disease that has killed more than 1,300 people in China. The medics are part of the more than 10,000 medical workers sent to Hubei by other Chinese regions, the military and Central Government agencies.
Deployed in the Taikang Tongji Wuhan Hospital, the additional medical team has conducted thorough consultations with the original staff of the hospital, and will help treat its 143 patients infected with the novel coronavirus.
