Storyline

Doctors are caring for suspected coronavirus cases quarantined in hotels in central China's Wuhan City, the epicenter of the disease outbreak that has killed more than 1,700 in the country.

Meng Tian Hu Hotel, located in southeast Wuhan's Hongshan District, is one of the hotels that quarantines dozens of suspected coronavirus cases and people who had close contact with coronavirus patients.

Doctors and nurses are giving medical observation before making a decision to send them back home or transfer them to hospital for treatment.

Mild cases will be sent to temporary hospitals converted from the city's exhibition centers, indoor stadiums and schools, while severe patients will be sent to special hospitals for intensive treatment.

"Her symptoms are minor and stable. But the CT scanning results showed both her lungs are infected extensively. So we decide to send her to hospital," Wang said while escorting a woman getting onto an ambulance.

"I feel I'm okay. But my lungs are seriously infected. So they are sending me to hospital. The doctors are really working hard. I'm very grateful to them," the woman said.

Though the doctors are dressed in the same protective suits, the woman said he can tell each of them from their voices.

"I can tell his voice. He works very carefully every time when he goes the rounds of wards. I really want to see his face, but I can't," she said when she left the hotel.

The novel coronavirus has so far infected more than 41,100 people in the city since December 2019. A total of 1,309 of them died, while 3,458 others recovered and were discharged from hospital.

Many thousands of other people in the city are under medical observation due to suspected symptoms and close contact with coronavirus patients.

Wang said the coronavirus outbreak posed great pressure to medical workers in the city.

"I've never had such experience to be with patients for so long. Now I have been working here for more than one week. Psychologically, I am now used to the working mode here," he said.

He said he hopes all will get through soon with the concerted efforts of whole society.
