Storyline

The first batch of cured patients in the temporary hospital that was converted from the Wuhan International Expo Center was discharged on Friday.

The 53 cured patients, aged from 17 to 34, left the hospital after two rounds of disinfection.

"Thank you all for helping me recover. I want to thank my country and all medical workers. I believe everyone here will recover," said a cured patient.

The 53 cured patients will be sent to quarantine locations for 14 days of observation before they return home.

All those cured patients have gone through a strict process of examination before being released.

"We set up a special expert team to sign on their release approval. Each patient needs signatures of two experts, one each from Wuhan and Shandong Province, to approve their release," said Lyu Yongtao, leader of the eighth batch of medical team from Shandong Province.

The temporary hospital at the Wuhan International Expo Center receives patients with slight symptoms and treats them with both western and traditional Chinese medicine therapies.

To better serve patients with slight symptoms, Wuhan is planning to open 19 more temporary hospitals, according to Hu Yabo, deputy mayor of Wuhan City.
