Storyline

One Two Three Airlines (OTT Airlines), a subsidiary of China Eastern Airlines, was officially launched in Shanghai on Wednesday.

OTT Airlines will mainly operate domestic passenger planes such as the ARJ21 and C919 and serve passengers in the Yangtze River Delta, coastal areas and nearby regions.

The first batch of ARJ21 airplanes will be handed over this year and the airlines is expected to start operation in September 2020, according to the company.

"For the three aircraft we have this year, we plan to operate in the Yangtze River Delta and on the coastal routes. For example, we will fly to the regions near Shanghai, such as Huai'an and Nantong cities in east China's Jiangsu Province, and we will fly further to coastal cities such as Shantou and Zhuhai in south China's Guangdong Province," said Jiang Jiang, executive director of OTT Airlines.

The ARJ21 is China's first turbo-fan regional passenger jetliner and was put into commercial service in June 2016. The C919 jet, with a range of 4,075 kilometers, is comparable to the updated Airbus 320 and Boeing's new generation 737.

Representatives of Commercial Aircraft Corporation of China (COMAC), a state-owned aerospace manufacturer whose major products include C919, ARJ21 and CR929 airplanes, also attended the launching event and introduced their production plan of the year.

"This year we will have seven customers that operate ARJ21 airplanes. Currently the market prospect is very encouraging. We will strive to produce 30 aircraft this year," said Zhang Xiaoguang, director of Department of Marketing and Sales of COMAC.

The predecessor of OTT Airlines is China Eastern Business Jet Co., Ltd., which mainly focuses on business jet operations and management.
