"China is an economic power with great capacities. Our country should also have the capacity for mutual assistance, solidarity, wisdom and strengthened management just like China. With China's experience to learn from, it took us less than a week to build this temporary hospital given what we have and what we are able to do. China's experience is a best gift for Iran and other countries."

Iran has braced itself with a temporary hospital built in the country's largest shopping center -- the Iran Mall, which will be put into use soon for patients infected with the novel coronavirus disease (COVID-19).
As one of many temporary hospitals built in the country for COVID-19 patients, this one in the capital city of Tehran will be able to provide 3,000 beds after the ongoing construction is completed.
The hospitalization zone is originally the exhibition center of the mall. Covering an area of 45,000 square meters, it currently has about 250 beds.
According to Ali Ansari, head of the mall, all facilities at the temporary hospital are purchased by the mall and will be handed over to the Iranian Ministry of Health and Medical Education for use planning.
He added that the idea of building the temporary hospital was inspired by China's construction of two field hospitals, namely Huoshenshan and Leishenshan, both of which were built in 10 days in Wuhan City of central China's Hubei Province, which has been hit the hardest by the epidemic outbreak in the country in mid-December.
"China is an economic power with great capacities. Our country should also have the capacity for mutual assistance, solidarity, wisdom and strengthened management just like China. With China's experience to learn from, it took us less than a week [to build this temporary hospital] given what we have and what we are able to do. China's experience is a best gift for Iran and other countries," said Ansari.
The Iran Mall has been asked to close due to the escalating epidemic outbreak in Iran. Ansari said that although his business is affected, he would still put people's health in the first place.
"The novel coronavirus can't be defeated by words, but by actions. Despite severe sanctions, we have shown our resolve to fight the epidemic. The Iranian people have successfully defended their independence and improved their capabilities under the sanctions," said Ansari.
Iran, the hardest-hit country in the Middle East, said Friday that 1,433 people had died from COVID-19 while the total infections surged to 19,644 people, of whom 6,745 have recovered.
