Storyline

The Chinese government has been helping Chinese citizens abroad to protect themselves against the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) as confirmed cases of the pandemic around the world rise quickly.

The Chinese embassy in Sri Lanka distributed masks to Chinese nationals in the country. The epidemic prevention supplies here are currently seeing a shortage, and to collect enough masks, the Chinese embassy has taken some from the emergency stock of the embassy staff.

Sri Lanka is also enacting a curfew and all high-speed roads are closed, making transportation of the masks difficult. As a result, the embassy has coordinated with local police to deliver the masks. The Chinese people living there have said that they were touched by the assistance and grateful for everything the motherland has done for them.

In addition, the expert team the Chinese government has sent to assist Pakistan held a video conference with their citizens abroad in Pakistan in the Chinese embassy to Pakistan last Sunday, introducing key points in prevention and control of COVID-19.

The attendees included representatives from Chinese-funded enterprises, Chinese students and the embassy.

The expert team stressed the use of masks, personal health, taking preventative measures at work, and emergency response during this peak period of the pandemic. They also answered questions on the accuracy of testing reagents and explained the use of a few common drugs of Western medicine and traditional Chinese medicine.
