Chinese President Xi Jinping inspected the resumption of work and production in east China's Zhejiang Province on Sunday and encouraged the enterprises and workers to overcome the negative impact of the COVID-19 epidemic and try to make outstanding achievements.
Xi visited the Chuanshan Port Area of the Ningbo-Zhoushan Port, a multi-functional and comprehensive modern deep-water port which handled 1.12 billion tons of cargo in 2019.
Xi stressed that it was significant for the Ningbo-Zhoushan Port to take the lead in resuming production in terms of promoting other Chinese enterprises to resume work and operation and recovering the logistics system and the global industry chain.
He expected the port to closely watch the epidemic situation overseas and actively cope with the negative impact on the cargo shipping following a variety of restrictive measures from foreign countries due to the COVID-19 pandemic so as to facilitate China's imports and exports.
After listening to a report on the port's production resumption at a hall in charge of the operation, Xi went to the container operation site in rain. He said ports are basic and pivotal infrastructures that support the economic growth and noted the Ningbo-Zhoushan Port plays an important role and functions as a hardcore driver in the joint building of the Belt and Road, the development of the Yangtze Economic Belt and the integration of the Yangtze River Delta. He hopes the port can be built into a world-class one and contribute more to China's development.
"I wish the Ningbo-Zhoushan Harbor and all our workers to still make outstanding achievements after overcoming various difficulties," Xi said.
On Sunday afternoon, Xi went to the Beilun Daqi industrial park for high-end auto parts and molds in Ningbo and inspected the Zhenzhi machinery and mold Co. Ltd. in the industrial park, where he was briefed on the production resumption of the small and medium-sized private manufacturing company.
Talking to workers at the production line, Xi pointed out that by overcoming the impact of the epidemic to return to their posts and resume work in time, the workers were pursuing the benefits for the enterprise and for the country, and for themselves as well. The enterprises' normal production could guarantee the normal operation of the national economy and create job opportunities for people, and generate incomes for the workers.
Xi noted that China's small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) are smart and full of vitality, and they are good at braving difficulties and constantly striving to become stronger. With the support of the Communist Party of China and government and all social sectors, they are surely able to tide over the difficult times and win better development opportunities, he said.
At the industrial park's management service center, Xi talked with the administrative staff and representatives of SMEs. He stressed that private enterprises and SMEs have an important status in China's development, especially in its industrial development.
While the unexpected epidemic dealt blows to various types of enterprises to varying degrees, Xi said, the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee has rolled out a package of policies and will adjust and perfect them in time with regarding the changing situation to help them mitigate the impacts. Special consideration has been given to the SMEs, and a string of measures have been rolled out to support them and help them pull through the difficulty.
Xi, also general secretary of the CPC Central Committee and chairman of the Central Military Commission, made an inspection tour from Sunday to Wednesday in Zhejiang, one of China's major foreign trade provinces where businesses are fast back to normal.
