Storyline


A total of 330,890 confirmed COVID-19 cases had been reported in Brazil by 19:00 Friday, overtaking Russia to rank second in the world, just behind the United States.

The country reported 20,803 new cases on Friday alone, the highest daily increase since the first COVID-19 case was reported on March 17.

Another 1,001 COVID-19 patients died of the disease on the day, bringing the total death toll to 21,048.
