The number of COVID-19 cases in the United States topped 1.76 million to reach 1,769,776 as of late Saturday, according to a tally kept by the Center for Systems Science and Engineering (CSSE) at Johns Hopkins University.

Meanwhile, the total deaths nationwide reached 103,768, according to the tally.

New York remains the hardest-hit state with 29,710 fatalities.

The U.S. continues to be the country with the most confirmed cases and deaths caused by COVID-19 in the world.
