Graduating students of universities in Beijing are allowed to return to campuses gradually from Saturday.
More than 20 universities including Peking University, the Beijing Institute of Technology (BIT) and Beijing University of Chemical Technology (BUCT) are expected to welcome back over 4,800 graduating students on Saturday.
This move follows the reopening of primary and middle schools on June 1, as the COVID-19 epidemic continues to wane in the Chinese capital.
BIT said around 7,000 final year students will return to campus in six batches this month, with the first batch of 245 students.
Students can enter the campus after a few procedures such as temperature measurement, face recognition, health codes scanning and certificates verification.
"I received a notice of returning school in late May. Our counselor clarified some specific procedures for return, told us to prepare materials, and confirmed the specific routes. They confirmed with me information and offered us point-to-point service," said Geng Baoqun, a student.
During the epidemic, students need to update their health condition through a program every day, which will continue after students return to school.
"Besides feeling happy, I feel more touched. Because my family members have been fighting on the front line of epidemic prevention and control in the capital, so I know very well how much the university has prepared for graduates to return school this time. This also gives us graduates reassurance," said An Dong, a student.
The university also arranged many online recruitment activities for students.
