Storyline

The rapid development of digital technology is a key highlight of the INCLUSION Fintech Conference, which opened Thursday in Huangpu District of east China's Shanghai Municipality.

The three-day event. the first of its kind in China, is being hosted by China's largest fintech company Ant Financial Group and focuses on the latest trends that impact the future of payment, remittance, wealth management, cross-border trade, business, urban and sustainability. Over 500 famous domestic and international experts were invited to participate in more than 40 online and offline conferences to exhibit over 1,000 technological achievements which may affect our daily life and production.

Various applications of digital progresses were exhibited at the conference Thursday. A bluetooth system showed how a mobile device could control the function of a car's engine, door locks and windows. The recognition function of a mobile device showed its ability to distinguish not only human beings, but dogs as well. Having their noseprint identified and recorded, dogs could also have their own electric archives, which allowed them to receive customized medical services and insurance.

Farmers, whose life traditionally did not interact much with digital and financial technology, would also benefit from the improvement of data collection and financial services. They could complete an application for agricultural loan by simply walking around their field with a mobile device in hand. The satellite connected with their mobile device would do the required calculations on the field's area and crop.

The conference also forecasts the top 10 fintech trends in 2021, focusing on financial reliability, safety and inclusiveness. Shanghai also announced the establishment of its first fintech industry fund to attract and support more fintech companies. By optimizing its plans and policies, Shanghai aimed to build a fintech industry of top companies.

"At the conference, we are to launch Shanghai's first fintech industry fund together. We are bringing in all the elements in the market, so all of us together within the same framework will greatly facilitate the rapid and healthy development of the fintech industry in Shanghai," said Chao Kejian, director of Huangpu District.
